23 April 2013 - Annual General Assembly

The Annual General Assembly took place on Tuesday, 23rd of April 2013 from 18h00 onwards at Centre de Recherche Henri Tudor.

After the General Assembly, we had as guest speaker Madi Sharma, to inspire us with "No Excuses - Visionaries - Where are YOU?" followed by a Cocktail.

Madi is an Entrepreneur who founded and runs the Madi Group, a group of International private sector & not for profit companies, and NGOs. The philosophy is to create innovative ideas tailored to local action, which can achieve global impacts beneficial to a sustainable society.

20 March 2013 - 7ième congrès sur la Gestion de Projet

This event brought together professionals in project management. Managed by the Public Research Center Henri Tudor, this yearly event is the largest congress dedicated to project management in the Greater Region and a valuable opportunity for sharing information, practices, knowledge and experience with peers.

The congress offered a wide range of presentations covering the main sectors in Luxembourg: Banking, Industry, Transport and Public Administration.

PMI Luxembourg Chapter participated in the Congress with a sponsor stand.

 

Our Director of Outreach, Razvan Stefan, reported : “It was a very interesting event with many participants, with presentations on various topics of Project Management. The presentations were delivered by talented speakers who were able to send their messages very clear to the audience. Last but not least, I would like to thank to CRT for this successful organization. I think events like this should be held more often.”

6 February 2013 - "What's new in Project Management, Episode 3"

Our annual event with the University of Luxembourg. This year's student projects focussed on 'how to use social networks in project management' and 'complexity in project management'.

 

Every year, the students of the Master in Information and Computer Sciences, of the University of Luxembourg, research the field of Project Management and explore current trends. This year the students shared with us their findings on “Social” elements in Project Management and a different view on how to measure project complexity.

 

1. Doline Tcheunou, Elvis Hatungimana, Jérome Ricoeur, Raoul Schmitz, Tahar Gouenfoud, Students of the Computer Science Master. The title of their presentation was “Towards Measuring Complexity in Project Management: A parameterized Approach”. The Students shared their initial findings on how to model project complexity with the use of Network Modeling. (view the presentation)

 

2. Boris Bondarenko, Karen Pérez Velasquez, Ignacio Ponce, Aleksandrina Kovacheva, Students of the Computer Science Master. The title of their presentation was “Motivation in Project Management: The Young Workforce”. The Students talked about their findings on what is motivating the new workforce generation. 3. Ana Gaggero, Xiuyan Jiang, José Miguel López, Petr Elias, Students of the Computer Science Master. The title of their presentation was “Internal Social Network”. The Students presented proposals on how to use Social Network techniques for internal personnel recruitment, job openings promotion and project promotion. (view the presentation)

 

4. Rikki Dijksman, Loïc Gammaitoni, Anna Giannakou, Giorgos Ziazopoulos, Tom Alff, Students of the Computer Science Master. The title of their presentation was “Achievement-Based Crowd-Sourcing”. The Students presented their research findings about which reward systems engage resources in non-for-profit projects. (view the presentation)

 

5. Pirlot Kevin, Scott Luke, Boes Jeff, Giacomo Falcone, Students of the Computer Science Master. The title of their presentation was “Video Reporting”. The Students shared their experience on how to use videos as a reporting and communication tool in project management. (view the presentation)

11 December 2012 - A bridge between HR and Project Management - a utopian dream or a challenging reality?

This event, having been the next one in the series of interactive events (round tables and a panel), organized by the Luxembourg PMI Chapter, was an excellent opportunity to meet experienced HR professionals and Project Managers and debate together with them around the following topics:

21 November 2012 - Post Merger Integration: Complexity of post-deal reality

This was a joint event with our Premium Chapter Sponsor, PricewaterhouseCoopers.
The speakers shared their experiences and observations on project management in Post Merger Integration. Periods of economic crisis or growth are the right moments for mergers and acquisitions. 6 October 2012 - Above and Beyond PMBOK - Eurospace Centre

This event was a collaboration between the Belgium and Luxembourg Chapters with participation from the Lille Branch of Ile-de-France Chapter.

Around 200 project managers from PMI Belgium, PMI Luxembourg and the Lille branch of PMI Ile-de-France Chapter met to share best practices and learn from one another. The schedule was:

There were also sessions on a wide variety of project management topics: soft skills for a project manager, tools like Mindmap, project scheduling using MS Project, lean thinking to make a project manager more efficient, real life project experiences of working under time pressure, how to be a strategic project leader, standard and best practices such as ISO21500, and ethics.

This event was presented by PMI Luxembourg Chapter and Technology Managers (tema.lu).

8 March 2012 - Fund Set-Up and Migration: a Project Management Perspective

This event was organised jointly with our Premium Chapter Sponsor, PricewaterhouseCoopers, and held at its Luxembourg offices.

The speakers presented their experiences and observations on project management in the funds industry.
The Luxembourg fund industry is very dynamic, and has gone through many transformations over the last decade. This event aimed at presenting the "project management" perspective of such transformations through the analysis of two case studies:

1st February 2012 - The New Agile Generation in Project Management

PMI Luxembourg held this event at the Luxembourg University Campus in Limpertsberg.


Every year, the students of the Master in Information and Computer Sciences, of the University of Luxembourg, research the field of Project Management and explore current trends. This year the students shared their findings on agile methods, crunch-time in projects, and how to apply different criteria to select project management software tools.

 

1. Masoud Tabatabaei, Richard Foersom, Eric Tobias, Students of the Computer Science Maste. The title of their presentation was “Crunch Time in Project Management”. The students talked about their findings on the Crunch Time phenomena, what causes it, and how to manage it. (download the presentation)

2. Mike de Dood, Remus Dobrican, Azemina Husovic, Walter Bronzi, Students of the Computer Science Master. The title of their presentation was “Free vs Commercial Project Management Software”. They talked about their findings on how to select the best-fitting project management tool using a selection criteria and a project scenario. (download the presentation)

3. Blanca Gómez Andrades, Paul Bicheler, Carlos Palacin Rubio, Students of the Computer Science Master. The title of their presentation was “Scrum-ban, scenario to learn it for IT projects”. They presented their learning tool to introduce the Scrum-ban method in IT project teams. (download the presentation)

4. Vaishnavi Rajendran, Avikarsha Mandal, Jérôme Wagener, Sam David Christophe Schmit Van Werweke, Students of the Computer Science Master. The title of their hands-on presentation was “Kanban, another game”. The students introduced the audience to a new game, developed by them, to learn the principles of Kanban. 24 May 2011 - Biodiversity - A management issue for the 21st century

2010 was the year of biodiversity and the period 2011 to 2020 is the United Nations decade of biodiversity. This event considered what the implications are for constructing infrastructure projects internationally and in a Luxembourgish context from different perspectives: finance, environmental engineering and non-governmental organisation (NGO).

27 April 2011 - Gender perspectives - Towards a common objective: efficient project management

December 10 2009: PMI meets HERMES - A Pragmatic Approach to Project Management

We are grateful for the sponsorship of this event by the Centre de Recherche Public Henri Tudor, Ernst & Young and Printstar.

This event, introducing the HERMES project management method, was a collaboration between the Project Management Institute Belgium Chapter - Luxembourg Section, the students of the Master degree course in Information and Computer Sciences at the University of Luxembourg, the Groupe de Travail HERMES Luxembourg, and the Centre de Recherche Public Henri Tudor.

An unusual aspect was that the production of the event itself was undertaken - very efficiently and effectively - by the students, the objective being to offer them a chance to learn about real-life project management.

5 February 2009 : An Agile Experience - You Take Control to Maximize the Value of the Session

This was a joint event of Agile Interest Group Luxembourg (AIGLU) and PMI Belgium Chapter - Luxembourg Section.

This original session was managed as an agile project.
