Dear Friends of the PMI Luxembourg Chapter,
 
As we head into the end of 2016 and the festive season, I would like to take a moment to look back at the first twelve months following the Chapter’s re-establishment.

Thanks to the dedication of the Re-establishment Team, 2016 started with the inauguration of the new Board of Directors. As a team, we were keen to take on the challenge of bringing new life into the PMI Luxembourg Chapter. The first quarter was about getting the administrative structure of the Chapter back in order. This work behind the scenes was necessary to lay the basis for a healthy Chapter. After that, the Board could focus on the core: its interaction with the Chapter’s (prospective) members and the organisation of events.

In 2016 the Chapter organised eight events that were all well-attended and positively rated. Of these events, the two largest were held around summer. In June, we organised an event in collaboration with PwC Luxembourg - the Chapter’s Premium Sponsor - around the theme ‘The Set-up of a Project Management Office’. Speakers from the European Parliament, PwC, the European Stability Mechanism and Goodyear filled the PwC’s auditorium to capacity. In September, we invited our (prospective) members to an event hosted by Goodyear. Goodyear professionals explained how their project management practices contribute to the development of innovative products for the automotive industry. How about a ball as a tyre?

The Chapter’s increased activity has attracted new members. In 2016 the Chapter almost doubled in size starting at 73 members to 130 members to date. A great achievement! This success is the result of the work of the many great volunteers on which the Chapter can now count. I would like to personally thank all people who volunteered in 2016. No matter the type of volunteering role you fulfilled, from event photographer to Board Member: a tremendous thank you!!

I would also like to express my gratitude to the firms that have sponsored the Chapter. PwC Luxembourg has been our Premium Sponsor for many years now and is therefore a cornerstone for the Chapter. In addition, Lux-Advisory, Goodyear, Streff, Agile Partner and the University of Luxembourg have made events possible. Together these firms have provided the indispensable financial foundation for the Chapter’s activities.

On behalf of the Chapter’s entire Board of Directors, I wish you and your dearest ones a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! The New Year will bring you plenty of new opportunities for development and networking. I look forward to welcoming you again to our events in 2017.
